Kano DMA Collaborates With NDLEA to Tackle Drug Abuse

By Farouk Isa Musa

Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency has solicited for the support and cooperation of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to fight the prevalence of drug abuse in the state.

This request was made by the Director-General of the DMCSA Pharm. Gali Sule, when he and the members of the management paid a courtesy visit to NDLEA's office.

Pharm. Sule said they were at the Commandant's office to seek for the collaboration between the two agencies to fight the ever-growing drug abuse throughout the state.

Speaking further, the Director-General stressed that the DMCSA is determined to embark on a sensation campaign against this social vice, starting with the screening of the entire staff of the organization, including members of the management.

"Drug abuse is a serious problem in our society. It is a social vice that worries any right-thinking person. It is negatively affecting the pushers, their families, and the society in general," he lamented.

"We wish to seek for your guidance and support in that direction, not forgetting that the success of the DMCSA in this important campaign is, undoubtedly, the success for the NDLEA.

Responding, the State Commandant Abubakar Idris Ahmed, who was represented by Deputy Commandant (In-Charge of Operations and Training) Yaya Aminu, said the NDLEA is ready to partner with DMCSA to checkmate what he described as destructive menace.

He further commended the Director-General for his foresight, assuring him of total support.

By Farouk I. Musa

In a heartfelt closing ceremony of a 3-day Annual Supply Chain Summit held in Lagos on Thursday night, the Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply (DMCSA) has won six (6) major awards "attributed to its significant strides and outstanding performance in drug management."

The awards the Agency bagged include the '2024 Award for Outstanding Performance in Public Private Partnership,' the 'Patronage Award of the Year,' and the 'Recognition Award for Outstanding Contribution for the Year 2024.'

Others are the 'Award of Excellence for Continued Commitment to Drive Supply Chain Excellence,' the 'Outstanding Partnership Awad' and the 'Meritoriious Award of Excellence'.

Receiving the awards on behalf of the Agency, Pharmacist Gali Sule, the Director-General of the DMCSA, attributed the success recorded to the support and cooperation of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the Agency.

"I am deeply honored to receive these awards on behalf of my agency, on behalf of Kano Ministry of Health and the state government," Sule said in his acceptance speech. "These recognitions will not be achieved without the full support of the state government, under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

"As a result of Governor Abba K. Yusuf's unflinching support and maximum cooperation through the MinistryofHealth, the state DMCSA, among its counterparts across the nation, has become a driving force to reckon with and it is always at the forefront in promoting improved access to essential health commodities by providing qualitative and affordable drugs and other medical consumables to health facilities that are also available, accessible and sustainable throughout the state and beyond.

"Governor Yusuf's innovative approach has set a benchmark and has inspired many other Drug Management Agencirs (DMAs) in the country to follow in our footsteps," the DG stressed.

The Annual Supply Chain Summit is a national conference of stakeholders from the pharmaceutical industry, namely the pharma companies, regulatory bodies, government-owned DMAs, research institutions, and development partners, among others.
