Kano DMCSA Engages Muslim Professionals on Public Health Advocacy

The Director General of the Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA), Pharm. Gali Sule, on Monday, 20th April 2026, received the executive members of the Kano State Chapter of Muslim Professionals in Da’awah (MPD) on an advocacy visit to his office.

Receiving the executive members of MPD, Pharm. Gali Sule highlighted major operational achievements and key financial milestones recorded by the Agency, including a significant financial turnaround from a negative capital base of ₦102 million to over ₦600 million as of March 2026, the successful clearance of ₦1.178 billion inherited debt, and a 40% reduction in the cost of government-supplied drugs compared to open-market prices

He also outlined key operational strides such as boosting drug availability in public health facilities from 30% to over 90%, the ongoing construction of a pharma-grade warehouse and quality control laboratory, strengthened logistics through the Integrated Last-Mile Delivery system, and the institutionalisation of quarterly reviews and stock counts to ensure transparency and accountability.

The Director General appreciated the visit and commended the association for its commitment to societal development through professional and faith-based engagement.

Pharm. Sule reiterated the Agency’s openness to strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders in advancing healthcare delivery and ensuring the availability of safe, effective, and quality drugs across the state, as in tandem with policies and programs of Kano State Government, under the able leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and State Amir of the association, Alh. Saleh Kwaru, stated that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration with the Agency in promoting ethical practices, community enlightenment, and public health advocacy.

The State Amir further noted that the association remains committed to supporting government institutions through initiatives that align with both professional standards and Islamic values.

The visit concluded with a shared resolve to explore areas of collaboration for the overall benefit of the public.

Zamfara Health Ministry Delegation Visits Kano DMCSA to Strengthen Drug Supply Systems

A high-level delegation from the Zamfara State Ministry of Health, led by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Rilwanu Musa Zurmi, has embarked on a strategic study tour to the Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA), aimed at exploring efficient Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) implementation models for improved drug supply sustainability.

The visit underscores Zamfara State’s commitment to strengthening its healthcare delivery system through the adoption of best practices in pharmaceutical supply chain management.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Director General of DMCSA, Pharm. Gali Sule, the Director Pharmaceutical Services, Kano State Ministry of Health, Pharm. Kamilu Mudi Salisu, welcomed the team and reaffirmed Kano State’s readiness to share its experiences and successes in implementing a robust and sustainable DRF system.

In their seperate remarks, the Director Drugs and Supply Kano DMCSA Pharm. Salisu Hashim and the Technical Assistant DMCSA Pharm. Tukur Ibrahim assured the visitors that Kano is ever ready to strengthen established partnership with Zamfara for better healthcare outcomes, by allowing the Zamfara to gain insights into Kano sustainable drug financing through DRF.

Speaking during the visit, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Rilwanu Musa Zurmi, noted that the study tour was designed to provide firsthand insights into the operational framework and success factors that have positioned Kano State as a model in drug supply chain management. 

In his submission, the Executive Secretary of Zamfara State DMA expressed optimism that lessons learned would be adapted to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of drug distribution in Zamfara State.

Pharm. Sani Bello, the Executive Secretary of Zamfara State DMA, noted that they are in Kano to understudy what he described as "best practices" in DRF management, and explore innovative supply chain solutions, so as to replicate the Agency’s successes, Kano's in DRF managemen for improved drug supply sustainability.

The delegation includes key stakeholders in Zamfara’s health sector, notably the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Zamfara State Drugs Management Agency (DMA), Pharm. Isa Muhammad Gusau; the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Almustapha Marafa; the Technical Assistant to the Executive Secretary, DMA, Pharm. Nasiru Muhammad Jabaka; and the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at DMA, Lawali Mohammed Altine.

The study tour featured technical sessions, facility inspections, and interactive discussions focused on DRF operations, stock management, financing mechanisms, and accountability systems.

The Kano State DMCSA has gained national recognition for its innovative approaches to ensuring consistent availability of quality medicines, making it a reference point for states seeking to reform their drug supply systems.

The visit is expected to foster stronger inter-state collaboration and drive improvements in access to essential medicines in Zamfara State and beyond.

DMCSA Hands Over Donated Drugs Worth N1.5m to KASSOSA, Strengthening Support for Education Sector in Kano

In a continuous bid to compliment the efforts of the Kano State Government to strengthen the education sector, the Director General of Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA), Pharm. Gali Sule has, on Thursday, handed over critical first aid drugs earlier donated to the Kano Science Secondary Schools Old Students Association (KASSOSA) in a brief ceremony held at the premises of the Agency.

Presenting the commodities, the Director General, who was supported by members of management team, said the donation was part of DMCSA's efforts to support the giant strides of the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, towards the development of education sector in the state.

Pharm. Sule, who was the immediate past National President of KASSOSA, added that the donation of drugs by DMCSA is not limited to science and technical schools, as the Agency has, in 2025, made a similar donation to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for onward distribution to their schools.

He then commended the leadership of KASSOSA for their dedication, stressing that the activities and programs conducted by the association are instrumental to the development of education across the state.

He then urged ex-students body to ensure the commodities are judiciously used.

Receiving the donation on behalf of KASSOSA, the National President of the association Alh. Balarabe Nuhu Jallah expressed gratitude to DMCSA for the donation, disclosing that since the inception of the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in 2023, the ex-students union has been receiving such support from DMCSA every year, with the present donation as fourth of its kind.

Jallah assured the DG of proper utilization of the donated medical supplies across 18 science schools in Kano and Jigawa States. KASSOSA for their dedication, stressing that activities and programs conducted by the association are instrumental to the development of education across the state.

During the event, Pharm. Sule was together directors and heads of units, including Director Drugs and Supply Pharm. Salisu Hashim Muhammad, the Head of Account Adamu Abdullahi Sulaiman, and Head of Internal Audit Hadiza Ado Muhammad, among others.

The KASSOSA President, on the other hand, was accompanied by the Secretary Kabir Dalha Kabir, the National Treasurer Umar Rabo, the Financial Secretary Aisha Kasim, and the Public Relations Officer Abba Tukur.

DMCSA Holds 10th Quarterly (Q1 2026) Review Meeting, Records Major Milestone

The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) has successfully conducted its 10th Quarterly Review Meeting, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to strengthening the state’s health supply chain system and ensuring uninterrupted access to life-saving drugs and medical consumables.

The review meeting, chaired by Honorable Commissioner of Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf and held on Tuesday at DMCSA, highlighted remarkable achievements recorded within the reporting period, reflecting the Agency’s strategic reforms, prudent financial management, and unwavering dedication to service delivery.

The notable achievements recorded include a clearance of inherited debts of over N1.178b, a substantial increase in fund value, as well as an increase in stock availability.

Speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner of Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf commended the leadership of DMCSA for recording such significant advancements in the health supply chain maturity assessment, reflecting continuous improvement in governance, data management, logistics systems, and workforce capacity."

"This progress positions DMCSA as a model for supply chain excellence within the region."

Dr. Yusuf assured the residents of Kano that the DMCSA remains focused on consolidating its successes by expanding access to quality medicines, enhancing digital supply chain systems, strengthening transparency and accountability mechanisms, as well as building resilient and responsive healthcare logistics.

He further thanked Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for utmost support and cooperation to the Ministry of Health, and the development partners for their numerous health interventions in the state.

Delivering a welcome address earlier, the Director General of DMCSA Pharm. Gali Sule noted that "The Agency recorded a notable increase in fund value to the tune of N628,774,541, thereby reinforcing its operational capacity and enabling improved procurement, distribution, and overall supply chain efficiency."

He also added that the stock availability across health facilities rose impressively to 93.8%, demonstrating enhanced inventory management systems and effective distribution mechanisms. "This milestone," according to Pharm. Sule, "ensures that drugs are consistently available to meet the healthcare needs of our teeming population.

"In a landmark financial achievement, the Agency successfully cleared inherited liabilities amounting to ₦1.178 billion, signaling strong fiscal discipline, accountability, and a renewed foundation for sustainable growth."

The Director General then reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to sustaining these gains while pursuing further innovations aimed at strengthening the health system. He emphasized that the achievements recorded are a result of collective effort, stakeholder collaboration, and strong government support.

Pharm. Sule expresses appreciation to all partners, stakeholders, and staff whose dedication made these accomplishments possible and reiterates its commitment to delivering a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable health supply chain system for the people.

During the meeting, presentations were made to assess the operational activities at DMCSA and other relevant health parastatals and programs.

At the end of the meeting, an Award of Leadership in Supply Chain was presented to the Commissioner, by the Kano State Essential Drug Officers Forum, for his examplary leadership in the health sector. Similarly, another one, an Award of Excellence in Supply Chain, was also presented to Pharm. Tukur Ibrahim, the immediate past Director Drugs and Supply at DMCSA, for his dedication and outstanding contributions to pharmaceutical services.

Shugaban Hukumar Samar da Magunguna da Kayan Aikin Asibiti ta Jihar Kano (#DMCSA) Pharmacist Gali Sule tare da dimbin magoya baya sun fito, kwansu da kwarkwata, don tarbar Mai Girma Gwamna Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf  wanda ya dawo gida Jihar Kano daga Birni Tarayya Abuja, bayan da ya halarci Babban Taron Jam'iyyar #APC na Kasa.

A lokacin tarbar, Pharmacist Gali Sule da dubun-dubatar al'ummar Jihar Kano sun taru a Filin Tashi da Saukar Jiragen Sama na Malam Aminu Kano, yayin da aka yi dakon isowar Mai Girma Gwamna, wanda ya sauka da misalin karfe 2 da rabi na rana.


Sakamakon dandazon Kanawa masoya da suka yi fitar farin dango don yi wa Gwamna maraba da kuma nuna goyon bayansu gare shi, tawagarsa ba ta samu isa Gidan Gwamnati ba sai karfe 10 da 'yan mintuna na dare.

Wannan karamci da Kanawa suka nuna wa Gwamna Alh.Abba Kabir Yusuf manuniya ce da ke tabbatar da gamsuwa da irin ayyukan alheri da gwamnatin jiha ke malalawa a birni da kauyuka a karkashin tsarin nan na kishin jihar nan mai taken "Kano Farko', wato 'Kano First' a Turance.


A karkashin gwamnati mai ci, harkar lafiya ta inganta ta hanyar gina sababbin asibitoci da gyara wadanda ake da su, da samar da wadatattu kuma ingantattun magunguna, cikin farashi mai rahusa,  da kuma daukar ma'aikatan kula da lafiya.

Alal misali, nasararori da aka samu a Hukumar Samar da Magunguna da Kayan Aikin Asibiti ta Jiha (DMCSA) kadai sun Isa abun tunkaho. A karkashin jagorancin Shugabanta Pharmacist Gali Sule, wannan hukuma ta biya bashi na Naira biliyan daya da milyan 172 (N1.172b). A karshen watan Disambar shekarar da ta gabata, wadatuwar magunguna a asibitoci (drug availability) ta karu da kaso 95 daga kaso 30. Haka kuma an samar da katafaren rumbun adana magunguna (Pharma-Grade Warehouse) wanda a baya babu irin sa a jihar Kano. An samar wa da hukumar jari mallakinta (operational fund value) na Naira miliyan 532, daga rashin jari na Naira miliyan 102 (N102m negative balance).

Baya ga bangaren lafiya, haka kuma an kyautata harkar ilimi. Haka zalika, ana ci gaba da samar da kayan more rayuwa (infrastructure), wadanda suka hada da tituna da gadoji da ruwan sha, da sauran su.

Haka abun yake idan aka leka bangaren noma, da kiwo, da sauran sassa.


Gwamna Abba Kabir Yusuf bai tsaya a iya manya-mayan ayyukan raya kasa ba (wato capital projects). Yana matukar bai wa jin dadi da walwalar jama’a muhimmanci ta hanyar gina dan Adam (ma'ana human development).

Daga cikin tsare-tsaren Gwamnatin Jihar Kano na gina dan Adam da kula da jin dadi da walwalar al'umma, ya zuwa yanzu (a wannan wata na Afirilu) Gwamna Yusuf ya biya hakokin 'yan fensho wanda ya kai Naira biliyan 32, daga cikin Naira  biliyan 48 da suke bi. Abun da ya rage bai wuce Naira biliyan 16 ba.

Har ila yau, gwamnati ta horar da matasa sana'o'i kala daban-daban, tare da ba su jari don dogaro da kai. Wannan kari ne a kan dubunnan matasa da aka dauka aiki a fanonni daban-daban.

Abun da Kanawa kawai suke jira shi ne, Allah Ya kai mu kakar zabe ta shekarar 2027, su nuna halacci, su saka alkhairi da alkhairi ta hanyar zazzagawa Gwamna, da ma jam'iyyar APC, kuri'u, daga kasa har sama.
